Although Plymouth's Derriford hospital is seeing a gradual decline in both diseases year on year, both Torbay Hospital and the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital have seen an increase of cases.

Recent studies have named Derriford Hospital as one of the Top 40 hospitals in the country.

The study focuses on reported MRSA rates as well as clinical care. Under the Clinical Negligence Scheme for NHS Trust's, Derriford Hospital now boasts scores of 90% for clinical care and 100% response in major clinical incidents.Torbay Hospital say they have invested more than £1m in the last year on improving their isolation and washing facilities.
